PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the French league champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired twice in the closing moments to take a shock lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the final moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
